About these routes

Via Harlan Road (43 miles, +1275’): This is the easiest route from Big Elk Campground to Newport, with no significant climbing. Harlan Road follows Big Elk Creek for 19 graveled miles from Big Elk to Elk City. Elk City Road continues for 9 paved miles to Toledo. The remaining 13 miles of paved road follow the shores of Yaquina Bay to Newport.

Via 1000 Line Road (36 miles, +2700’): For the first 13 miles, this route follows the primary bicycle route recommended by the C2C Trail Partnership (Big Elk Campground to Ona Beach). It then takes 1000 Line Road to Toledo, followed by Yaquina Bay Road to Newport.

The Backdoor to Newport (30 miles, +2900'): For the first 20 miles, this route follows the primary bicycle route recommended by the C2C Trail Partnership (Big Elk Campground to Ona Beach). It then heads north on gated logging roads to Newport, and features scenic views over Yaquina Bay.
