Camping & Lodging


On the main C2C rout the only camping that is available between Philomath and the Coast is either at Big Elk Campground or dispersed camping in the Siuslaw National Forest. Camping and lodging available in other locations are described below. Also, see information about camping on the C2C Trail Partnership website.

(1) Big Elk Campground

Location: Halfway between Corvallis and the Coast, two miles to the west of Harlan, and at Mile Marker 19 on Harlan Road (Google map).

Description: This is a very nice campground that is operated by a local community under special use permit from Siuslaw National Forest. Tent and RV camping are allowed. Potable water and vault toilets are available. There are no RV hookups. A hiker-biker area that is co-administered with the C2C Trail Partnership. As of 2021, campsites were $5 for hikers or bikers and $10 for car camping per night.

(2) Corvallis or Philomath

Benton Oaks RV Park at the Benton County Fairgrounds (location map): Location: On the west side of Corvallis. It offers tent camping from Memorial Day to Labor Day and RV camping year-round.

Marys River Grange (location map): Location: On the west side of Philomath; 24707 Grange Hall Road near the intersection of Highway 34 and Old Peak Road. If arrangements are made ahead of time, camping is available at the Grange Hall. A $5 donation is suggested. Contact: marysrivergrange.org, marysrivergrange@gmail.com, 541-829-2907.

(3) Ona Beach

Seal Rocks RV Cove (location map): Location: 2.3 miles south of Ona Beach. RV and tent camping.

Whalers Rest RV & Camping Resort (location map): Location: 2 miles north of Ona Beach and 5 miles south of Newport; 50 SE 123 Street, South Beach, OR 97366. It offers tent, cabin, and RV camping.

(4) Waldport (or near Waldport)

McKinley’s Marina & RV Park (location map): Location: On the east side of Waldport; 850 Highway 34, Waldport, Oregon 97394. It offers tent and RV camping. There are other campgrounds further to the east along Highway 34, but McKinley's is the nicest one and is conveniently located inside the town.

KOA in Waldport (location map): Location: In Waldport on the north side of the Alsea Bay bridge. It offers tent and RV camping.

Beachside State Park (location map): Location: 4 miles south of Waldport. It offers tent and RV camping.

(5) Newport (or near Newport)

South Beach State Park (location map): Location: Just south of Newport. It has tent camping, RV camping (with hookups), and yurts, as well as potable water, flush toilets, and showers.

Elk City Campground (location map): Location: 9 miles east of Toledo and 19 miles west of Big Elk Campground. This is a Lincoln County Park that sits at the confluence of Big Elk Creek and the Yaquina River. The campground is closed from November 1 to March 31. There are 12 campsites which are not reservable. The campground has potable water and flush toilets. There are no RV hookups. Up to 10 people and 4 tents are allowed per campsite. Campsites can accommodate up to 2 RVs. As of 2021, campsites were $25 per night. The Camp Host can be reached at 541-875-2395. They may be able to tell you if any campsites are currently available.
