About the Luckiamute Loop

This route begins near Adair Village, cuts through EE Wilson Wildlife Area, and heads north to Luckiamute Landing State Natural Area. It skirts by Buena Vista and goes to Sarah Helmick State Park before returning south. The route is 32 miles, with 1230' of climbing, and is 40% unpaved.

Points of interest

Mile 0: EE Wilson Wildlife Refuge

Mile 1.6: An optional left turn leads to a pheasant viewing area about 0.2 miles on the right. From there, you can optionally ride the trail to the fishing pond to the north.

Mile 4.6: Luckiamute Landing State Natural Area - Southern Unit. You can optionally ride a short trail to a pond.

Mile 5.6: Luckiamute Landing State Natural Area - Northern Unit. Two miles of gravel roads and trails lead to the banks of the Willamette River. 

Mile 10.7: Baker Tract of EE Wilson Wildlife Refuge. You can optionally explore a dirt road for one mile out-and-back.

Mile 12.7: The Buena Vista Bike Hub Sasquatch. From here, you can optionally ride east to the town of Buena Vista and view the Willamette River.

Mile 15: Great views from the top of Oak Hill Road, including a spectacular view of Seekseekqua (aka Mt. Jefferson) on a clear day.

Mile 16.4: Great views from the top of the hill on Haley Road, including a nice view of Bald Mountain to the west.

Mile 20.2: Sarah Helmick State Park.
