Seasonal considerations: In winter, mile 7.3 to 8.1 (along the river) is often muddy. In the summer, there has been a thick patch of blackberries on about a 25' section of the route east of the single track trail. The Mudslinger XC Mountain Bike Race is held here annually in April (in 2023, the date is 4/1).
Description: This route begins at the ODOT Park and Ride Lot in Wren and passes by Harris Bridge Vineyards at mile 2.4. At mile 6, shortly after after crossing the Marys River at the Alder Bridge, it loops back through Starker Forests' Tum Tum and Vonsild Tree Farms to Harris Bridge. At Mile 9, there is a 0.1 mile "hike-a-bike" section connecting the two tree farms.
Options: If you continue on Harris Road for one mile after mile 6, you reach "Feuerstein's Castle" (a unique private home). Visiting this landmark adds 2 miles to this route.
